Hulu UX Teardown: In Brazil, Hulu Is a Page Inside Disney+

A UX teardown of Hulu's signed-out browse flow as Brazil serves it: a Hulu-branded collection page on Disney+, eighteen shelf headings with the Hulu Originals row last, titles filed on several shelves at once, and a title page that drops the Hulu name and never shows a price.

We asked for Hulu's hub pages from Brazil and landed on disneyplus.com. On this route Hulu isn't a standalone service. It's a collection page inside Disney+, reached through a Hulu brand link, and that page is what this teardown covers: the collection from top to bottom, one Hulu Original, and its title page.

A US visitor gets Hulu's own site, its plans and Live TV, and none of that is here. Everything below is the Brazilian route as one signed-out visitor saw it on 1 October 2026: English interface, 1440×900, prices (had any appeared) in reais, and no click on Get Disney+.

1 / 9

Hulu collection overview

The branded hero establishes Hulu and opens the signed-out collection with current recommendations.

View full flow (9 screens)

A Hulu hero under a Disney+ header

The collection opens on a green Hulu wordmark over a burst of light, with one button under it: Get Disney+. In the top-right corner there's Log In, and no other branding.

Scroll a little and a fixed header slides in with the Disney+ logo on the left and Get Disney+ and Log In on the right. It stays for the rest of the page. So the visitor's first frame is Hulu, and every frame after that is Disney+ with Hulu content in it. No screen in the flow explains how Hulu relates to the Disney+ subscription the button sells, so a visitor who knows Hulu as a separate US service has to work it out from the button.

Eighteen shelf headings and no controls

Below the hero the page is a single column of horizontal shelves. We counted eighteen headings between the hero and the footer:

What to Watch Today, Miniseries, Playlists, True Crime Dramas, Featured Movies, Anime, SOS and Investigation, 2026 Emmy® Award Nominees, Criminal Masterminds, Action Movies, The Simpsons, Video Club, Workplace Comedies, Dystopian Futures, Adult Animation, Fashion Icons, Predator, Hulu Originals.

Each shelf shows five full landscape tiles and a sixth cut off at the right edge, which is how the page hints that a row scrolls sideways. There are no filters, no genre menu and no search box on the page. Until the footer, which links to a few Disney+ collections such as Comedies and Documentary, the headings are the only way to narrow the catalog.

Miniseries and true crime shelves
Miniseries and true crime shelves — Editorial rows organize series by format and theme for fast visual scanning.

The third heading, Playlists, has nothing under it. It's a title followed by an empty band, then True Crime Dramas. We can't tell from the capture whether that shelf fills for signed-in viewers.

The same titles turn up on several shelves

The headings mix genres (Action Movies, Anime), moods (Video Club, Dystopian Futures), franchises (The Simpsons, Predator) and an awards list. Mixing them means one title qualifies for several rows, and the page lets it appear in all of them. Within the tiles that are fully visible:

TitleShelves it appears on
Dark RiverWhat to Watch Today, Featured Movies, Action Movies
Jujutsu Kaisen 0What to Watch Today, Anime
The King's ManCriminal Masterminds, Action Movies
The Simpsons (series and movie)The Simpsons, Adult Animation
Love Story2026 Emmy® Award Nominees, Fashion Icons
Pretty WomanVideo Club, Fashion Icons
Vacation Friends and Vacation Friends 2Featured Movies, Hulu Originals
Awards, crime, and action browsing
Awards, crime, and action browsing — Topical, genre, and franchise shelves give signed-out visitors multiple ways to browse.

Repeats are common on streaming home pages. On a page that only shows five titles per row before you scroll sideways, though, each repeat takes one of the five slots. Action Movies spends two of its five on titles the visitor saw higher up.

Hulu Originals is the last shelf

The one shelf that's about Hulu as a brand, Hulu Originals, is the eighteenth heading. It sits directly above the footer: Vacation Friends, Love, Victor, Tell Me Lies, Vacation Friends 2, Murdaugh: Death in the Family, and a sixth tile cut off.

Hulu Originals decision shelf
Hulu Originals decision shelf — The final branded shelf concentrates Hulu Originals and provides a natural title-selection point.

A visitor who followed a link labeled Hulu, on a page whose hero is the Hulu logo, has to scroll past seventeen headings, The Simpsons and Predator among them, to reach the titles Hulu made. Two of them, the Vacation Friends films, were already on Featured Movies higher up the page, without any Hulu Original label there.

The footer lists Hulu under Brands, alongside Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and ESPN.

The title page drops the Hulu name

We opened Vacation Friends from the Hulu Originals shelf. The title page leads with the film's logo, a 20th Century Studios mark above it, and a metadata row: a red 16 age rating, AD and CC badges, 2021, 1h 45m, Comedy. Under that is a single Get Disney+ button and a synopsis.

Hulu Original title detail
Hulu Original title detail — Artwork, runtime, genre, synopsis, credits, and the Get Disney+ boundary frame the selected title.

In the two frames we have of this page, the word Hulu doesn't appear. The shelf we clicked from called this a Hulu Original, and the page it opens doesn't repeat that.

Scrolling down, the Details section prints the synopsis again. It's a longer version that opens "In this raw and raunchy comedy" but tells the same story, sentence for sentence, as the one above, plus a closing line. The 16 rating also appears twice, once in the badge row and once under Rating. Duration, release date, genre, director and six cast names fill the right-hand column, followed by a photosensitivity warning and a You May Also Like row (Vacation Friends 2, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Why Him?, Fire Island, The Other Woman).

Metadata and related titles

No price anywhere in the flow

Get Disney+ is on all nine screens: under the Hulu logo, in the fixed header and on the title page. None of them shows what it costs, what plans exist or whether every plan includes the Hulu collection. The capture stops before the button, so we can't say what the next page shows.

Brand label, price line, shelf order

Put one sentence under the Hulu wordmark saying how Hulu titles relate to a Disney+ subscription in Brazil, and print the starting monthly price beside the button. Move Hulu Originals up to second place, after What to Watch Today, and stop an empty Playlists heading from rendering. A small "Hulu Original" label next to the studio mark on the title page would carry the brand through from the shelf. And if a title already sits on a higher row, leaving it off the lower one would give Action Movies and Fashion Icons back their slots.

Take it further

Most of what goes wrong here is wayfinding. The link says Hulu, the header says Disney+, and the title page names neither Hulu nor a price.
