Terms of Use

Effective Date: September 23, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of typenorm.com, its subdomains, and the tools, content and services available there (together, the "Services"), operated by TYPENORM ("TYPENORM", "we", "us"). By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. What the Services are

TYPENORM is a UX research and education platform. The Services include editorial articles, frameworks and learning material; the Apps and Landings catalogs, which show screenshots of third-party product interfaces with our commentary; Pulse, a set of research tools including UX Snapshot, accessibility scans and monitors, testing tools and AI-assisted generators; School; Collective, where members submit and vote on feature requests; and user accounts with prepaid credits for metered tools.

2. Changes to the Services and to these Terms

We may change, add or withdraw parts of the Services at any time. We may update these Terms; the current version is always at this address with its effective date. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email to account holders before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

3. Accounts

Some features require an account. You must provide accurate information and keep your sign-in credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to open an account. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, after notice where reasonably possible.

4. Credits and paid features

Metered tools consume credits. Credits may be granted by us or, where offered, purchased. Credits have no cash value, are not transferable, and are not refundable except where the law requires it or where we fail to deliver a paid feature. Prices, free allowances and plan limits may change; a change does not affect credits already on your account. Where a purchase is offered, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor; we do not store card numbers.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • copy, scrape, crawl, mirror or bulk-download the catalogs, reports, articles or any other part of the Services, whether by hand or by automated means, beyond ordinary personal browsing;
  • use any content from the Services to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model, or to build a dataset, without our written permission;
  • resell, sublicense or redistribute the Services or content obtained from them;
  • circumvent access controls, rate limits, credit metering or visibility settings;
  • submit an image, text or other input that you have no right to use, a URL that requires credentials you are not authorised to use, or anything that contains malware or is unlawful;
  • use the Services to harass, defame or infringe the rights of any person;
  • interfere with the operation or security of the Services.

6. Your content

"Your content" means anything you submit to the Services: URLs, uploaded images, text entered into tools, survey and test material, project and canvas content, feature requests and comments.

You keep ownership of your content. You grant TYPENORM a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, reproduce and display your content only as needed to provide the Services to you, to render a report or listing you choose to publish, and to keep backups. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content you have published and others have already accessed, and for backups kept for a limited time.

You warrant that you have the rights needed to upload any image or text you submit, and that submitting your content does not breach any law, contract or third-party right. You may submit any publicly reachable URL for capture and analysis, including a site you do not own; the capture is made from the public page without signing in, and you are responsible for how you use and share the resulting report.

You control the visibility of reports you create. A private report is visible only to you. An unlisted report is visible to anyone who has the link and is not indexed. A public report is listed, indexable and may appear in the gallery and leaderboards when you opt in. Content you make public may be viewed, quoted and linked by anyone.

7. AI-assisted features

Some tools generate or score content using third-party AI models accessed through an API gateway. Your inputs to those tools, including captured screenshots, are sent to the model provider that serves the request and are processed under that provider's terms as well as ours. Outputs are automated, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and are provided for you to review; they are not professional advice. Do not enter information you are not allowed to share with a third-party service provider. See the Privacy Policy for how these inputs are handled.

8. Third-party products, screenshots and trademarks

The Apps and Landings catalogs, articles and other parts of the Services show screenshots, names and logos of products made by other companies.

  • TYPENORM claims no ownership of any third-party interface, name, logo or trademark shown on the Services. They remain the property of their respective owners.
  • TYPENORM is independent. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any company whose product appears on the Services, unless stated on the page.
  • Screenshots are captured and shown for the purpose of research, study, criticism, commentary and education about interface design, to the extent needed for that purpose, with the product identified. We rely on the quotation and commentary provisions of copyright law that apply to us, including article 46, III of Brazilian Law 9.610/98, and on fair use for readers in jurisdictions that recognise it.
  • Screenshots may not reflect the current version of a product.
  • If you are a rights holder or a person who appears in a screenshot and have a concern, contact us as described in the Content & Rights Policy.

9. Our content and your licence to it

Articles, frameworks, annotations, scores, report structure, templates, software and the design of the Services are owned by TYPENORM or its licensors. You may use them for your personal use and for internal use in your own work, including using Pulse templates in your own research. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link. You may not republish, sell or redistribute our content, or use it as described in section 5, without our written permission. Reports you generate with Pulse tools are yours to use, subject to section 8 for any third-party material they contain.

10. UX Snapshot, accessibility scans and monitors

These tools capture the URL you submit, analyse it automatically and produce scores, findings and recommendations. Results are automated, may vary between runs, and are not a certification of accessibility, legal compliance or quality. Scans are not a substitute for a professional audit or legal advice. We store the capture to render your report and to compare later runs. Monitors re-scan on a schedule and send email alerts to the address on your account; you can stop a monitor at any time. You may submit any publicly reachable URL, including one you do not own. Captures are made from the public page without signing in. You are responsible for how you use and share the report.

11. Collective

Feature requests, votes and comments in Collective are public. By submitting one you allow us to publish it, edit it for clarity, merge it with similar requests, decline it, and build on it, without compensation or attribution. We decide what we build.

12. Disclaimers

The Services and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", for research and educational purposes. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and no warranty about the accuracy of any score, finding, generated text or third-party content.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, TYPENORM is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of profit, data or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the Services, and our total liability for any claim connected with the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law that applies to you, including consumer-protection rights. If you are a consumer in Brazil, nothing in sections 12 and 13 limits your rights under the Consumer Defense Code (Law 8.078/90).

14. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time from your account page or by emailing us. We may suspend or end your access for breach of these Terms, for legal reasons, or if we discontinue the Services, with notice where reasonably possible. Sections 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. If you are a consumer, you keep any protection given by the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country.
