DuckDuckGo
Single continuous scroll of results with no pagination and pervasive Instant Answers.
DuckDuckGo's defining choice is the absence of pages: results load in one continuous scroll, so there is no page two to abandon. Instant Answers sit at the top — a calculator, a definition, a stock chart, a syntax-highlighted code snippet — rendered from structured sources rather than scraped from a page. The 'bang' syntax is its power-user signature: type !w or !gh and the box becomes a redirect into another site's own search, turning one field into a launcher for thousands of sites. The chrome is deliberately quiet, privacy framing stated plainly rather than sold. Relevance can thin out on long-tail or local queries, the predictable cost of leaning on a smaller, more private index.
