UX Collective — Homepage

A curated design front page that has to out-run the platform it's printed on

The teardown

The UX Collective homepage is a full-length editorial front page rendered inside Medium's clean, minimal chrome — and the length is the point. Below the three lead stories it keeps going: an 'Editor Picks' grid, a sponsor band ('5 links a day to keep your demons away'), 'Timeless picks,' 'New & Noteworthy,' rows and rows of designer essays with bylines and read-times. It's the opposite of an algorithmic feed — a human-sequenced magazine that signals editorial labor through sheer curated depth. But the framing never lets you forget whose platform it is: Medium's wordmark and 'Sign up' sit at the very top, the reads are member-metered, and the account-acquisition machine runs underneath the whole thing. The visual register is restrained and typographic — black text, generous whitespace, illustration-led cards — the credibility-through-plainness of a serious publication. What the page is really doing is spending that editorial credibility to earn one action before the platform intervenes: getting you onto the newsletter, the audience UXC keeps when the Medium tab closes.
