Severity scale

Each finding is rated on Nielsen's severity scale; the points deduct from a lens's 100.

  • Catastrophe — a usability disaster; imperative to fix before release.25
  • Major — a serious problem; high priority to fix.12
  • Minor — a low-priority problem to fix.5
  • Cosmetic — fix only if extra time is available.2

Grade bands

A composite maps to a grade band by its minimum threshold.
