HERE WeGo

Offline-first maps where the whole region downloads as a unit.

HERE comes from automotive and logistics roots, and the consumer app shows it in one defining capability: you download an entire country or region and the search, routing, and turn-by-turn keep working with the radio off. The interface foregrounds this, country tiles you manage like a download queue with sizes and update badges, so offline is a planned state rather than a degraded fallback. It also leans into multimodal trip building, stitching transit, drive, taxi, and walk legs into one comparable list. The cost is polish: typography and iconography feel a half-step behind the category leaders, the place detail is utilitarian, and discovery is thin. It rewards travelers who prepare, and underwhelms anyone expecting the rich, ambient recommendations they get elsewhere.
