Claude's distinguishing move is Artifacts: when a reply produces a document, a snippet of code, or a small app, it lifts out of the message stream into a dedicated panel on the right. The conversation stays narrow and readable on the left while the work product gets room to render, preview, and update in place as you ask for changes. This two-pane split solves the classic chat problem of substantial output drowning the thread. The composer accepts pasted files and images inline, and responses stream like its peers. The trade-off is that the panel can feel heavyweight for trivial content, and the line between what becomes an artifact and what stays inline is not always obvious, so you sometimes can't predict where an answer will land.
