Candy Crush Saga

A match-3 board wrapped in a lives meter, a map, and relentless friction prompts.

Candy Crush is a clean match-3 board surrounded by a deliberately sticky meta-layer. The core swap-and-cascade interaction is genuinely satisfying — chunky candies, particle bursts, and escalating combo sounds give every match strong tactile feedback. But the surrounding interface is a study in engineered friction. The lives meter with its countdown timer manufactures scarcity; the linear map gates progress; and a failed level fires a modal offering extra moves for currency at the exact moment of frustration. These are textbook urgency and loss-aversion prompts, surfaced precisely when the player is most vulnerable. The genius and the cynicism live in the same screen: the board respects you, the wrapper monetizes your impatience.
