Apple Music
An editorial-first browse with full-bleed typography over algorithmic shelves.
Apple Music leans editorial where its rivals lean algorithmic. The Browse and Listen Now tabs are built from large, magazine-style cards with bold type set over artwork, foregrounding human-curated playlists, station shows, and album spotlights. Now Playing is a deliberate showpiece: tapping the mini-player expands it into a full screen with oversized art and time-synced lyrics that scroll and highlight line by line. The aesthetic is confident and consistent across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the watch. The cost of that polish is navigability. The library and the catalog are stitched together awkwardly, the five-tab bar shuffles around, and finding a specific album you saved often means more taps than it should, because the design prioritizes curated presentation over fast, predictable retrieval.
