Setup wizards
A setup wizard breaks first-run configuration into a sequence of single-question steps — each cheap to answer, each personalizing what comes next. Done well it feels like momentum; done poorly it's an interrogation before any value. The best wizards preview what's being built and adapt their length to the answers.

Figma's wizard adapts as you go — answering 'Work' expands it from 7 steps to 9, and the counter quietly grows while a live preview assembles your first project on the right.

Late steps seed the first file itself — 'What do you want to make first?' picks the destination template before the canvas ever opens.
