Community rules
These rules explain, in plain language, what you can't post in the Collective and what happens when someone reports it. The binding text is the terms of use (section 5, Acceptable use) and the content and rights policy. If this page and the terms disagree, the terms apply.
What is not allowed
- Harassing, threatening or abusing anyone.
- Defaming anyone, or posting someone's private information.
- Infringing someone else's rights, such as copyright or trademark.
- Posting anything unlawful, or anything that contains malware.
- Posting text, images or links you have no right to share.
- Spam and advertising, including repeated or automated posting.
- Copying, scraping or bulk-downloading Collective content.
- Getting around rate limits, access controls or visibility settings.
- Off-topic content: posts that have nothing to do with UX, design or TYPENORM.
- Pretending to be another person or organization.
- Using a profile picture that is sexual, violent, hateful or otherwise unsuitable.
Reporting
Any signed-in member with a verified email can report a request, question, answer, post or comment with the Report button next to it. A member's profile can be reported for impersonation, private information or an unsuitable profile picture. Pick the reason that fits best:
- Spam or advertising
- Harassment or bullying
- Impersonation
- Sexual content
- Violence or graphic content
- Self-harm
- Private information shared
- Off-topic
- Something else
- Sexual content involving a minor
- A credible threat of violence
- Someone is at immediate risk of self-harm
- Intimate images shared without consent
You can report each item once, and there is a daily limit on how many reports one account can send.
What happens after a report
A moderator reviews the report and does one of three things:
- Hide or remove the item. It disappears from lists and search, and its page stops loading.
- Dismiss the report. The item stays as it is.
Nothing is deleted by moderation, so a decision can be reversed. Separately, you can always delete your own posts and comments.
New members
For the first 7 days after you create an account, you can't include links in what you post, and your daily limits are lower. This keeps spam accounts from getting far.
Appeals
If you think a moderation decision about your content was wrong, email hello@typenorm.com with a link to the item and why you think the decision was wrong. A person will review it.
