Three states of a design archive with no search query behind it: an index that states its scale and then hands it over twenty-four at a time, a category page that narrows the set without changing the layout or offering a second filter, and an entry page carrying five axes of metadata that each lead to a different single-axis list.

The full index

The index states the scale in one line — 7,462 curated websites — and then gives the prime slot under it to a display ad, not to a result. Eleven category pills follow, with 'All' selected and 'View All' at the end of the row; below them the grid starts. There is no search field in the page body and no filter rail beside the results, so the pills are the whole apparatus, and the pager at the bottom of this page reads Page 1 of 311.
