iCloud Drive

Storage that hides itself inside Files and the OS, by design.

iCloud Drive barely presents as a product. There's no real dashboard, no command center; it surfaces through the Files app on iOS and a Finder sidebar entry on Mac, with a download cloud icon next to items not yet pulled local. The philosophy is invisibility, and for Apple-native documents it largely succeeds: a Pages file just appears across devices. The cost is legibility. When sync stalls, there's almost no diagnostic surface, no log, no clear status beyond a spinner. The web app at icloud.com is an afterthought with limited file operations. Storage management is buried in Settings, mixed with backups and photos, so you rarely understand what's consuming space. Frictionless until it silently isn't.
